Carbon Reduction Plan

Updated: May 4

1.  Organisational Overview

The Warren Neurodiversity Service Limited (The WNS) is a specialist provider of neurodevelopmental assessments and therapeutic support for individuals with conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Operating nationally, The WNS delivers both remote and in-person consultations to private patients and NHS-referred individuals.

As a socially responsible healthcare provider, The WNS recognises its duty to embed sustainability and carbon reduction throughout its operations. This commitment extends irrespective of our status as a small-to-medium enterprise (SME) with an annual turnover below £750,000.

2.  Commitment to Net Zero

The WNS is fully committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2035, representing a 100% reduction in emissions against our 2025 baseline year. This ambition is aligned with NHS Net Zero goals and broader national climate commitments under the Climate Change Act 2008.

Recognising that over 97% of our total emissions fall within Scope 3 (value chain), our strategy places considerable emphasis on supply chain engagement, sustainable procurement, and measurable organisational behaviour change.

3.  Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline Year: 2025     |     Reporting Period: 1st May 2025 – 30th April 2026

Emissions data has been collected using a combination of activity-based and spend-based methodologies, with estimates calibrated to the scale and structure of a micro-organisation. Key emission sources identified include digital infrastructure, IT equipment procurement, employee commuting, and supplier logistics.

4.  Net Zero Roadmap

The WNS has modelled a decarbonisation trajectory that is both ambitious and operationally achievable. Our goal is to eliminate all avoidable emissions by 2035 and offset any unavoidable residuals through credible, verified carbon offsetting mechanisms. Reductions will be driven by absolute emission reductions and improvements in emission intensity, supported by sustainable growth planning.

–      Embed carbon performance criteria within contract renewal processes from 2026 onwards.

5.2  Digital and Technology Emissions

–      Transition to verified low-carbon web hosting and cloud storage providers.

–      Consolidate technology infrastructure to reduce redundant energy consumption.

–      Commission digital carbon audits in partnership with IT service providers.

5.3  Travel and Employee Commuting

–      Formalise and enforce hybrid working policies to materially reduce commuting emissions.

–      Promote adoption of public transport, cycling, and active travel for business journeys.

–      Offset all remaining essential staff travel through verified carbon credits by 2030.

5.4  Energy Management

–      Transition all operational premises to 100% certified renewable electricity tariffs.

–      Install smart energy monitoring systems across all leased office locations where feasible.

–      Implement programmable building management systems to optimise heating and cooling use.

5.5  Waste and Sustainable Procurement

–      Adopt a zero-to-landfill operational policy by 2030.

–      Source eco-certified consumables and energy-efficient equipment as standard.

–      Mandate digital-first communications, minimising paper use across all functions.

5.6  Governance and Organisational Culture

–      Establish an internal Sustainability Champion Group to drive accountability and innovation.

–      Deliver mandatory carbon literacy and environmental awareness training for all employees.

–      Conduct biannual emissions reviews and publish annual progress reports publicly.

6.  Monitoring, Reporting and Compliance

The WNS will monitor progress against this plan on a six-monthly basis and publish an updated public report on an annual basis. This Carbon Reduction Plan has been developed in compliance with:

–      PPN 06/21 – Procurement Policy Note on Carbon Reduction requirements for major government contracts.

–      GHG Protocol Corporate Standard – the internationally recognised framework for greenhouse gas accounting.

–      SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) – UK regulatory guidance on energy and emissions disclosure.

Where applicable, The WNS will apply UK Government-published conversion factors for emissions calculations and will pursue relevant accreditations, including PAS 2060 (Carbon Neutrality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), as the organisation matures its sustainability practice.

7.  Declaration and Sign-Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in accordance with and is consistent with the requirements of the GHG Protocol, SECR, and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard. The plan is verified as accurate and current by The Warren Neurodiversity Service Limited, with third-party guidance provided by Legendary Services Ltd.
